Household- and Individual-Level Data

All household and individual data are consolidated in sets of master longitudinal files that are downloadable from the Dataverse. Please email us at chns@unc.edu if you have any questions downloading the data.

 

Community-Level Data

Community-level data are NOT downloadable from the Dataverse. To obtain community-level data files, a CHNS data use agreement must be submitted and approved by the project director.

All CHNS data files are available in SAS format.

The China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) was designed to examine the effects of the health, nutrition, and family planning policies and programs implemented by national and local governments and to see how the social and economic transformation of Chinese society is affecting the health and nutritional status of its population.
